 The American military did not take long, after the advent of self-contained and reloadable ammunition, to recognize the merits of providing equipment for field units to perform the basic tasks. The outfit shown comes from the 1907-1917 period, according to the booklet date. It was
intended for the Krag and '03 Springfield, and the .38 and .45 service cartridges of that era. This set was intended only to prepare the fired cases for reloading operations.
