The Browning 8-78 rifle on this month’s cover is one of the 1,000 limited-edition, Belgium-engraved bicentennial models. Each rifle has a serial number beginning with 1776 and ending with numbers 1 to 1,000. The 45-70 has an octagonal bull barrel topped with iron sights and tapped to accept scope mounts.
